From the Cooks River to Dolls Point the bay curves through one continuous beach, promenaded, planted and swum along its whole length. Good to know: pick any cross street from Brighton to Sans Souci and there is calm water at the end of it.
Five kilometres of sand with Cook Park running the whole way behind it: a cycleway, playgrounds, toilets, showers and change rooms near the baths, picnic shelters and coal fired barbecues at Kyeemagh, Monterey, Ramsgate and Dolls Point, and the whole beach is smoke free. Netted baths sit at Kyeemagh, Brighton, Monterey, Ramsgate and Sandringham, so a quiet enclosure is never far away, and the cafes of Brighton Le Sands are a short walk from the water. Dogs have their own off leash stretch at the Kyeemagh end, between gates 60 and 61. Parking along the Grand Parade is free with a three hour limit. Pelicans perch on the lamp posts, white bellied sea eagles patrol the bay, and the saltmarsh near the river mouths is full of birds.
