Between the point and the baths at Sans Souci, calm shallows and grassy foreshore carry on the bay's unhurried mood. Good to know: at its best on a still morning at high tide.
Vanston Baths, the netted enclosure at the end of Vanston Parade, is the most southerly of the bay's swimming nets and swims at any tide, with a small car park and toilets beside it. Cook Park runs behind the sand with a shared path for walkers and cyclists, a playground and an accessible toilet, and from here it is 300 metres to the Georges River, 650 metres to Scott Park and 1.2 kilometres to the Captain Cook Bridge. Bayside Council asks that dogs stay clear of the play equipment and that nobody feeds the birds, which is easy to forget when a pelican settles on the nearest lamp post. Look up for white bellied sea eagles working the bay.
