Plain words about what happens when you support Earth to Sea News. Last updated 22 October 2026.
Who you are supporting
Earth to Sea News is published by NKTM Enterprise Pty Ltd, ABN 73 616 374 086, in Sydney, Australia. Payments are taken by Stripe, and your card details never reach us.
What your support is
Earth to Sea News is free to read and the newsletter is free to receive. Support is a voluntary contribution towards the cost of reporting, field trips, photography and publishing. It does not buy access to content, and it is not a donation to a charity, so it is not tax deductible.
Reader support
- A one off gift is a single payment of the amount you choose.
- Monthly and yearly support renews on the same day each month or year until you cancel. Cancel at any time from the link in your Stripe receipt, or by emailing us. Cancelling stops the next payment. If you cancel a yearly contribution early, we refund the unused months pro rata.
- Yearly supporters at $100 and above may have their name listed on the Our supporters page. Tell us if you would rather not be named.
Business support
- A Nature Ambassador place runs for one year from payment and renews yearly until cancelled. If you cancel early, the unused months are refunded pro rata and your logo comes down at that point. It includes your logo and link in the Supported by row on the website and on the Our supporters page, the words for nature beside your logo, and a welcome in the newsletter. The first twenty businesses are Founding Nature Ambassadors, held at the founding rate for their first year and named as founding while the support continues.
- Section support and Patron support are arranged by email and confirmed in writing before any payment. A Patron place is agreed with each patron, runs for a year, includes everything in the Nature Ambassador place, and includes one field story in that year on the same terms as any field story: we decide what goes in and how it is told, and we may decline a story that does not stand on its own.
- We place logos and names as agreed and keep them accurate. We may decline or remove a business whose products or conduct sit against the values of the publication, or whose business we would otherwise need to report on. Any unused period is refunded pro rata.
- Supporting Earth to Sea News is not a partnership, agency or joint venture, and it gives no say over what we publish or how a story is told. Supporters are named as supporters.
Field stories
A business or organisation can invite Earth to Sea News to tell the story of good work it is doing. A field story is agreed in writing before the visit, with the fee and any travel covered by the host. It is published clearly marked as a field story with the host's support. We decide what goes in and how it is told, the host checks facts only, and we may decline a story that does not stand on its own, with any fee refunded.
Editorial independence
Support never buys coverage. Stories are chosen and written by Earth to Sea News, and no supporter sees a draft or approves wording. A supporter may be the subject of a story only where the story stands on its own, and a supporter does not support a story about itself. Where a host organisation covers the travel for a field visit, the story says so.
Prices, currency and GST
All amounts are in Australian dollars. NKTM Enterprise Pty Ltd is registered for GST. Amounts shown include GST, and business supporters receive a tax invoice. Prices may change, but not for a period you have already paid for.
Payment and receipts
Payments are made through Stripe, which sends a receipt to your email for every payment. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself. If something on a receipt looks wrong, write to us before raising it with your bank and we will sort it out.
Logos and names
A business supporter gives us permission to show its name, logo and link on the website, in the newsletter and in our social posts for as long as the support runs, and we show them as supplied. Our stories and photographs stay ours, and the terms of use cover them. Being a supporter does not include permission to republish our stories or photographs; ask us, and we are usually glad to help.
What paid means on this site
- Supported by on a page, a section or in the footer means the business supports the publication. It has no say in what we publish.
- A field story with the support of at the top of a story means the host invited us and covered the fee and travel. We chose what went in and how it was told.
- Nothing else on Earth to Sea News is paid for. We do not run advertorial that reads as a story, and we do not sell links, mentions or product placements.
Corrections and complaints
If we have something wrong, tell us. We answer within two working days, correct substantial errors as soon as we can, and say in the story that it was corrected.
Who can support
Readers supporting us need to be 18 or over. A person paying on behalf of a business is telling us they are allowed to.
Refunds
If a payment was made by mistake, email us within 14 days and we will refund it in full. Yearly support cancelled early is refunded pro rata for the unused months. One off gifts and monthly payments already made are not refunded.
Your details
We keep your name, email and payment record to manage your support and to send the newsletter. We do not sell or share supporter details with anyone. You can ask us to see or delete your details at any time.
Changes
We may update these terms. Changes apply from the date shown at the top and do not change a period you have already paid for.
Our responsibility
We run the website and newsletter with care, and we keep supporter placements accurate and up for the period paid. Beyond that, support is a contribution rather than a purchase of a service, and we are not responsible for any loss a business says it suffered through its own use of being a supporter. Nothing here takes away rights you have under Australian Consumer Law.
